ON7DQ Friedrichshafen 2025 - Day 3

I had a good night at Le Régit, and got on the road a bit earlier than scheduled.
So I arrived at the parking spot at 08:45, from where you can reach two summits : Le Rainkopf and Rothenbachkopf. Parking position is 48.004924, 6.978384

I had activated Rothenbachkopf before, so I decided to do the new summit first.
Both summits are also valid for no less than 6 POTA references !

FL/VO-170, Le Rainkopf - 1305m, 10 points  (POTA FR-3409 and others)

Temperature was a chilly 14°, so I dressed appropiately.

The walk to the summit is nothing difficult. It took me 20 minutes to reach the summit. From there you have a nice view over the area and the nearby Rothenbachkopf.

I attached the 9:1 UNUN to the fence, and the end of my 9.15 wire to my fishing pole, and started calling CQ ...

26 QSO's in the and 6 S2S made this again a succesful activation.

In 9 minutes I was back at the junction where I took the track upward to Rothenbachkopf. I also reached it in 20 minutes.

FL/VO-080, Rothenbachkopf - 1316m, 10 points (POTA FR-3409 and others)

After visiting the real summit, I set up a bit below to have some shelter from the wind.

Another good activation followed, with 25 QSO's and 2 S2S.

FL/VO-082, Petit Ballon - 1272m, 10 points (POTA FR-3409)

The third and last summit of this day was the Petit Ballon, which is a must if one has activated Le Grand Ballon, right ?

Parking position is here 47.985094, 7.121051

The track goes straight up to the summit, there is no shade, so protect yourself from the sun (if there is any ...).

Looking back to the parking lot , halfway the track.

On the summit is a Holy Mary statue, and solar panels, not sure if there is connection between the two ;-)

I found a spot in the shade, and away from the "tourists", I was only accompanied by a herd of cows. I was lucky that they were not interested in me or my antenna.

From Petit Ballon you have a nice view of its' big brother' , full name Le Grand Ballon de Guebwiller

Also here a good activation, with 21 QSO's and 5 S2S.

Then it was time for another drive of 75 km to my next AirBnb in Eschbach near Freiburg.
I had a good dinner in a new restaurant there, the Genussfabrik Breisgau.
